BOLERO DELLA BORSA
premiere 2008, Genova, Palazzo della Borsa
The pulsating of the stock exchange as the pulse for the dance
Inspired by Reto Emch’s "H2O" exhibition an installation of 30 black washing machines and a round water basin measuring 8 meters in diameter in addition to the exhibition space, the former Genovese Stock Exchange, a huge circular building in the heart of Genoa Anet Fröhlicher developed a stock exchange bolero in conjunction with the musician Abdullah Benabdallah and dancers from the troupe genova flamenco. A slow but steadily building, pulsating choreography, a bolero, an everyday scene at the stock exchange. The pulsating of the stock exchange as the pulse of the dance, with its ups and downs, the washing machines as platforms for the brokers, stages for the dancers. The stock exchange a hectic atmosphere, energy and dynamics that are not exactly foreign to flamenco. For the stock exchange, electronics are indispensable. The stock exchange a topical theme transformed with flamenco set pieces and an electro-flamenco sound. As part of that, the live audio technique also allows an improvised interplay between sound and dance, as in traditional flamenco, in addition to the designed sequences; surprising, emotional, familiar elements at the stock exchange.
